GOOD CONVERSATIONS NEED TRUST

Your space.
Your choice.

The game brings people together; it does not need to keep a diary of the conversation.

The short version

  • No account is needed. We do not ask you to type your answers to cards.
  • Online chat is visible to the people admitted to your room. Ordinary room chat is temporary, not a saved transcript.
  • Safety reports are private. If you choose to include recent chat as evidence, that limited snapshot is saved with your report.
  • Google Analytics is optional and does not load unless you allow it. Saying no does not affect the game.

One Card Closer is a MorfaDev project. Morfa Ventures is responsible for the personal data described here; see the Legal notice for the operator information. Privacy questions and requests go to [email protected].

What we handle

To run your table

We use the names players choose, or the names one player enters for an in-person table, along with room settings, invite/reconnect details, card progress, and shared/pass choices. Other admitted players can see the online room's names and play status. In-person names appear on the shared device. This processing is needed to provide the game you ask us to run.

Chat

In online rooms, admitted players can see your messages and when you are typing. Chat is not available in the one-phone in-person mode. We do not record spoken conversations or ask you to submit card answers. If you type an answer into chat, it is treated as a chat message. Other people in your room can still copy or screenshot what they see, so share only what you are comfortable sharing with them.

Suggestions and reports

If you send a question suggestion or problem report, we keep what you submit and any related deck or room details to review it and improve the game. For an in-room abuse report, we also keep the room, category, description, relevant display names, and connection IP addresses to investigate misuse. A recent-chat snapshot is attached only if the reporter actively chooses that option. Authorized reviewers, not other players, can see these submissions. We rely on our legitimate interests in safety, preventing misuse, and improving the service.

Technical protection and game signals

We use connection information, including IP addresses, for rate limits and security. We also count game starts, completions, deck use, and card reactions in aggregate to understand what works. These counts are not tied to a named player. These uses are based on our legitimate interests in running and improving a secure game.

Saved on your device

Your browser can remember your display name, a token that lets you reconnect to a room, and recently drawn card IDs so you see fewer repeats. This storage is needed for those game features, not for advertising. You can remove it in your browser's site-data settings.

Optional Google Analytics

If you select Allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 helps us understand visits to the site. We send page-view information and basic site interactions, not room codes, chat, player names, or card answers. Google Analytics may use first-party cookies such as _ga to recognize visits; our tag limits their lifetime to 30 days. Google processes this information for us and may transfer it outside the European Economic Area under applicable safeguards. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising or personalized ads.

Analytics is off unless you opt in. No Google Analytics tag or cookieless measurement ping is loaded before that choice, and declining does not limit the game. Your choice is saved in an essential cookie for up to 182 days. Use at any time to allow or withdraw consent; withdrawing stops future analytics and clears the site's Analytics cookies. You can also read Google's explanation of GA4 cookies.

Who sees what

People admitted to an online room see the room's cards, names, play status, and chat. They do not see private suggestions or reports. We use hosting, database, email, and—if you consent—Google Analytics providers to operate the service. We do not sell player information. Reports are available only to people responsible for reviewing them. We take reasonable security measures, but no online service can guarantee that another player will keep a conversation confidential.

If a provider processes personal data outside the European Economic Area, we use an applicable legal transfer mechanism. Ask [email protected] for details about providers and safeguards relevant to your data.

How long we keep it

  • Rooms and ordinary chat: in active server memory. Empty inactive rooms are removed after roughly six to seven hours; a restart also clears them. We do not save ordinary chat to the game database.
  • Suggestions and problem reports: removed after 90 days by daily cleanup.
  • Abuse reports and any chosen chat evidence: removed after 30 days by daily cleanup, unless a particular legal obligation requires longer preservation.
  • Temporary anti-spam records: kept in server memory for roughly 24 hours at most, then cleared.
  • Browser game data: until you clear site data. Analytics choice: held in an essential cookie for up to 182 days or until you change it. Reconnect tokens cease to work when the room ends.
  • Google Analytics cookies: configured for up to 30 days, or removed sooner when you withdraw consent. The Analytics property has its own event-data retention setting.
  • Aggregate game counts: kept for product measurement without names or chat text.

Email correspondence is held in our email system for as long as needed to handle the request and applicable obligations.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct, erase, or receive your personal data, restrict its use, or object to uses based on our legitimate interests. Email [email protected] with enough detail to help us find the relevant submission. Please do not send identity documents unless we request them securely. Room data may already be gone by the time you ask. We respond within the applicable legal period. You can complain to the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you. We will update this notice if the game's data practices change materially.
