A LITTLE MORE THAN SMALL TALK

Terms of
play.

Good conversations need room to breathe. These are the rules that make the table work for everyone.

Before you play

One Card Closer is a free conversation game. Creating or joining a table means you agree to these terms. If they do not work for you, please do not use the game. The cards offer prompts, not therapy, crisis support, or professional advice. You choose what to share—and you can always pass.

Make it your table

Online, the creator chooses the deck and room settings, shares a private invite, may approve guests, and can remove someone. New guests cannot join once play starts; admitted players can reconnect. The card names the person whose turn it is. They can pass immediately or choose to share, then mark their answer complete or pass instead. Other players can manually move on from a stalled turn after a quiet interval. In person, one phone moves around the group and each turn can move on with a single tap. Keep invite links among the people you want there.

Rooms are temporary. A connection can drop, someone can leave, and a game may pause briefly or continue with the players who remain. Do not depend on a room to save your conversation or progress.

Keep it kind

Do not pressure anyone to answer, disclose something private, or stay at the table. Do not harass, threaten, impersonate, spam, exploit, share unlawful material, or try to get around approvals and removals. If another player crosses a line, use the in-game report option or contact us. We may review a report and restrict access when appropriate. We do not monitor every conversation live, and the report option is not an emergency service.

Cards and contributions

The game’s name, design, software, and published cards belong to the operator or its licensors. You may play for personal use, but may not copy, sell, republish, or run the decks as another service without permission.

Your messages and suggested questions remain yours. You give us the permission needed to show messages to your room, investigate reports, and review suggestions. A suggestion does not enter a deck automatically or transfer ownership to us; we may ask before using a substantially original question, or write our own version. Only submit material you have the right to share. Other players may copy or screenshot what they see, so choose your words with that in mind. How we handle personal data is explained in the Privacy Notice.

If things change

We work to keep the game available, but cannot promise uninterrupted play, particular cards, or how someone else will behave. We may update the game or these terms for service, safety, or legal reasons, with appropriate notice of material changes. If you disagree, you can stop using the game.

The formal operator, contact routes, governing-law statement, and protection of mandatory rights are in the Legal notice. Questions? Come talk to us.
